Ongoing Initiatives

Since 1807, the University of Maryland School of Medicine—the nation's first public medical school—has tirelessly worked on its mission of transforming medicine beyond imagination. For more than two centuries, the School of Medicine has excelled in education, groundbreaking research, and community service.

There are several ongoing initiatives that help support the School of Medicine's critical work:

·An unrestricted gift to the Academic Development Fund or Fund for Medicine supports urgent and ongoing needs at the School of Medicine, which have a great impact on the institution.

·Gifts to Health Sciences Facility III will help support the new state-of-the-art building, slated to open in early 2018, and will house various research programs, such as the Institute for Genome Sciences and the Program in Personalized and Genomic Medicine.

·Donations to the Medical Family Annual Fund enhance the experiences of the next generation of physicians and scientists. Contributions have been used to renovate the student lounges and study areas on our campus, or to send medical students to conferences and presentations. These projects bolster the medial education received in the classroom and in the clinic.

·Sponsorships for the School of Medicine Annual Gala help provide critical funding to discover lifesaving cures and to develop innovative treatments through cutting edge biomedical research.
