Brian Bainbridge Memorial Fund A Project of School of Medicine Scholarships

The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) develops physical therapist practitioners and scholars to restore physical function and performance, prevent physical injury and disease and promote physical wellness.The Brian Bainbridge Memorial Fund recognizes and supports an individual within the PTRS program.

The Brian Bainbridge Memorial Scholarship was established by his mother, Julia Bainbridge '80 and his sister, Joanna Bainbridge-Blackburn '94, '03 to honor Brian's memory and to acknowledge his enthusiasm for physical therapy. Brian passed away suddenly on January 25th, 1997, while attending physical therapy school in Scotland. This endowed scholarship is given annually to a first year PTRS student who possesses qualities of empathy, kindness, and an unwavering passion for health, fitness, and physical therapy, and is nominated by his/her classmates.

Your support to the Brian Bainbridge Memorial Fund supports students in the PTRS program. By offering scholarships, PTRS can remain competitive among its peers, by attracting highly qualified applicants who are being pursued by other institutions. Scholarships make sure that driven, qualified students of all backgrounds obtain the support needed to succeed. Additionally, scholarships like this one allow PTRS to expand, strengthen, and diversify our student body.
