David M. Ibrahimi, M.D. Visiting Professorship A Project of School of Medicine Professorships

As part of the mission, the University of Maryland School of Medicine is committed to outstanding patient care, advancing research, and providing excellence in education for tomorrow's clinicians. As such, the Department of Neurosurgery is committed to the School's academic mission and has one of the oldest neurosurgery resident training programs in the country. There are many educational training opportunities offered in the neurosurgery resident program, but its cornerstone, is the weekly grand rounds conference which is led by a variety of speakers from neurosurgery and guests speakers from other relevant disciplines. A visiting professorship in academic medicine is considered a prestigious honor to be invited to lecture and share ones scientific contributions to the field of medicine.

The Department of Neurosurgery seeks to establish the David M. Ibrahimi, M.D. Visiting Professorship to enable the University of Maryland to invite world-renowned leaders in the field of spinal research to lecture and provide an interchange where scientific discoveries are shared. Dr. Ibrahimi was a leading spine surgeon committed to providing the best possible patient care, advancing innovative spine research, and educating future leaders in spine neurosurgery. It is our hope to carry on Dr. Ibrahimi's legacy in the field of spinal neurosurgery by establishing an Endowed Visiting Professorship in his name that will provide an outstanding educational opportunity for future generations of neurosurgeons to come.
