Steve Kreseski Victory Fund for Lung Healing Research A Project of Research

The Steve Kreseski Victory Fund for Lung Healing Research was established by family and friends after Steve's untimely death at age 58 from pulmonary fibrosis. Steve was passionate about politics, changed many lives through his mentorship, and was relentlessly focused on the pursuit and development of new ideas, especially in the areas of energy and the environment.

Along with his dedication to politics and law, he was an avid biker who rode more than 3,000 miles the year before he received a lung transplant.

The Kreseski Victory Fund honors Steve's commitment to help others by raising funds for novel research in The Program in Lung Healing at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, a multi-disciplinary program for people with acute lung disease.

How can you help?

Your gift to the Steve Kreseski Victory Fund for Lung Healing Research will improve future treatments for patients affected by pulmonary disease through research focused on adult stem cell therapies, artificial lung ventilation, and increasing the supply of transplantable lungs.

One of our friend and brother Steve Kreseski's favorite bike rides was along the C&O Canal. The towpath runs from Cumberland, on the Allegheny Plateau, through the Appalachian Mountains down to the Piedmont, past the dramatic Great Falls of the Potomac, and then gradually descending to the mouth of Rock Creek in Georgetown. Steve enjoyed the adventure along this scenic area, with its rich history and natural beauty, and he appreciated the challenges of this particular ride.

In founding the Kreseski Victory Fund, we remember the challenges that are faced every day by people who suffer from breathlessness.

From Thursday, April 27, through Sunday, April 30, Dave Meadows, Mike Kreseski, George Hubbard, Dan Wernecke, and Peter Lefkin rode the 183 miles of the C&O Canal in memory of Steve. Photos of the trip can be found by clicking here.

You can show your support for Team Kreseski by making a donation to the Kreseski Victory Fund. Your gift will not only encourage the Kreseski Team but helps develop research that will change this field of medicine.
